A national holiday farmstand event from American Farmstand Association + Local Farmstand Finds

 Cocoa & Country Roads

November 28 – December 13, 2026

Cocoa & Country Roads is a nationwide holiday celebration created to keep people exploring, shopping local, and supporting farmstands during a time of year when many small roadside businesses see their traffic slow down.

For two festive weeks, participating farmstands across the country will be featured on a special Cocoa & Country Roads Holiday Map, helping customers discover places to shop for locally grown, homemade, handmade, and homegrown goods while enjoying a little holiday adventure along the way.

Farmstands can participate in whatever way fits their stand. Decorate for the holidays, offer seasonal products, serve a little cocoa, create a special treat or simply open your stand and welcome new visitors. You choose the days and hours you participate during the event.

Where there are several participating farmstands close together, regional Cocoa & Country Roads trails may be created to encourage visitors to make a day of it, travel from stand to stand, and explore the surrounding communities.

At its heart, Cocoa & Country Roads is about giving people another reason to choose small and local during the holiday season, while introducing new customers to the farmers, bakers, growers, makers and families behind America's farmstands.

Because holiday shopping doesn't have to happen in a shopping center.

Sometimes the best gifts are waiting down a country road. 🎄

Cocoa & Country Roads is designed to work for farmstands of all sizes, from a simple roadside honor stand to a full farm destination.

Participating is easy: register your farmstand, choose when you'll be open during November 28–December 13, and add a little holiday spirit in whatever way works for you. You do not need to be open every day of the event.

Your farmstand will be added to the Cocoa & Country Roads Holiday Map with your location, participating dates and hours, photos, description, and information about what visitors can expect to find at your stand. This is a seperate map than the every day Local Farmstand Finds Map and it will show participating farmstand locations only.

Make the event your own! You might decorate your stand for Christmas, offer seasonal baked goods or holiday flavors, stock locally made gifts, serve hot cocoa or samples, create a special Cocoa & Country Roads item, offer a small freebie, set up a festive photo spot, or simply keep your stand stocked and ready for holiday shoppers. There is no required promotion, giveaway, discount or special activity. The goal is to showcase what makes each farmstand unique and give customers a reason to discover and support small local businesses during the holiday season.

Where enough participating farmstands are located near one another, American Farmstand Association may also create regional Cocoa & Country Roads driving trails, giving visitors an easy way to turn several farmstand stops into a holiday day trip.

Participation is $15 per farmstand before 11/1/26 and $20 after.
American Farmstand Association Stocked Stand and Destination Stand members participate at no additional cost. Once registered, you'll receive additional event information and promotional resources to help let your customers know you're part of Cocoa & Country Roads.

String the lights, hang the garland, pull out the vintage Christmas decorations

and give your farmstand a little holiday sparkle!

Participating Cocoa & Country Roads farmstands are invited to take part in our Deck the Stand! Holiday Decorating Contest for a chance to be named America's Favorite Holiday Farmstand.

Decorate as much or as little as you'd like. Your display can be classic country Christmas, colorful and whimsical, rustic and simple, completely over-the-top or perfectly suited to the personality of your farmstand. We're not looking for the biggest display. We want to see the creativity and character that make

America's farmstands so much fun to visit.

During Cocoa & Country Roads, participating stands can submit photos of their decorated farmstand. Finalists will be featured through Local Farmstand Finds, where our community will help choose their favorite. The winning stand will be named America's Favorite Holiday Farmstand 2026 and receive some very merry bragging rights, along with an upgraded American Farmstand Associationc membership for 2027 ($180 value)

Most importantly, decorating gives visitors one more reason to stop, snap a photo, share your farmstand and make it part of their holiday traditions.

Decorating is completely optional and is not required to participate in Cocoa & Country Roads.

🎄 How Does Cocoa & Country Roads Work for the Customer?
